About Mole Screen

Mole Screen® has expertise in the detection and management of skin cancer.

All skin checks are performed by Dr Michael Morrison, an accredited skin cancer doctor and general practitioner with more than 15 years of experience in diagnosing and treating skin cancer.

Mole Screen® is an independent skin cancer clinic, although it operates from St Albans Medical Centre in Christchurch. You do not need to be enrolled at the medical centre to attend, and self-referrals are welcome. With your consent, your regular GP will be kept informed of any important findings or treatment.

Dr Morrison uses advanced dermoscopy skills and modern skin imaging technology to identify changes in moles and skin lesions that may not be visible to the naked eye.

Mole Screen® is supported by Clinic Nurse Bridget and our reception team, providing a professional and welcoming service.

Why choose Mole Screen

Early detection is the most effective way to treat skin cancer.

Mole Screen® provides accessible and more affordable skin cancer checks, making it easy for patients to have new or changing skin lesions assessed promptly.

Our clinic audit results demonstrate high diagnostic accuracy:

  • 1 melanoma detected for every 3.5 lesions tested
  • 78% of lesions tested for non-melanoma skin cancer were confirmed by laboratory testing

These results reflect a targeted and careful approach, helping reduce unnecessary procedures while ensuring suspicious lesions are appropriately treated.

Using dermoscopy and advanced skin imaging, Dr Morrison can detect subtle changes in moles and other skin lesions at an early stage.

If a suspicious lesion is identified, it can often be treated or removed promptly. Patients with larger or more complex lesions are referred to specialist plastic surgeons when required.
